Meet: Jamal Ferrell, Give Lively Senior Customer Support Specialist

What do you do at Give Lively?
My day-to-day consists of providing support to our member nonprofits and their donors. I also specialize in the Giving Basket, the donation tool we developed and power for Charity Navigator.
What does a day in your life at Give Lively look like?
My day can be summarized by the words “empathy,” “support” and “problem-solving.” Each day, I focus on providing the highest level of assistance to ensure an optimal experience with Give Lively and Giving Basket. I have the pleasure of solving a wide range of things, from members reaching out about a donor check to helping peer-to-peer fundraisers move donations over to the right Team Fundraising page to guiding donors to contact a desired nonprofit.
More than what I do, it’s what I receive that truly makes the difference. My favorite part of my day is when members or donors let me know how much they appreciate a quick response. I value and respect the fundraising efforts of our members and take pride in quickly serving their needs so they continue to do important work for the communities they serve.
What do you like to do outside of Give Lively?
Outside of work, I am a human with many hobbies. While raising my toddler son: I help build and grow a fintech/healthcare startup to assist patients from all walks of life with access to their medicine via telehealth and digital care. I also remodel homes in my native state of Texas, build custom brick smoker grills (as I’m from Texas, brisket is the required meat of choice), grow plants for both decoration and food, and explore 3-5 states a quarter (I’ve seen 26 so far).
What excites you about Give Lively?
I love the team I work with and the nonprofits I engage with that are looking to merge technology with fundraising in a creative way to reach new audiences.
As a company, Give Lively has been a great environment for me to learn and grow. We have an amazing, diverse team, and I enjoy getting to know each team member as we collaborate!
