Last month, we added donor-advised funds (DAFs) as a payment method to Give Lively donation forms.

We were pleased to make this possible for several reasons. According to the DAF Fundraising Report 2025:

  • DAFs encourage greater giving – more than half of 2023 donors that switched to DAF in 2024 more than doubled their giving
  • DAFs facilitate streamlined giving and retention – DAFs are now the fastest-growing form of philanthropy, with median DAF revenue growth of +30% in contrast with a median non-DAF change of -1%
  • DAFs are for everyone – in 2024, only 1% of DAF grants were major gifts and 41% were under $250; also small organizations saw a 143% growth in DAF grants as a percentage of total revenue

However, we know that many nonprofits don’t understand how DAF giving works and don’t yet feel fully equipped to take advantage of the associated opportunities or benefits.

We hope to change that.

Webinar sneak peek

The goal of the webinar is to dig into:

➡️ Why donor-advised funds are becoming essential in modern fundraising

➡️ How DAFpay works across Give Lively-powered fundraising pages and peer-based giving

➡️  How to understand DAF donors and weave DAF options into appeals, campaign messaging and donor journeys

➡️  Tips for securing larger gifts, reducing friction and simplifying processing

Here's a sneak peek of a couple of slides:

Presentation slide. Headline: DAFs Play a Huge Role in Nonprofit Sustainability. Subtitle: In 2024, more than 80% of participants saw DAF revenue growth and more than 50% saw non-DAF revenue decline. Chart: 2021 showing 35% DAF revenue growth, but 27% non-DAF revenue growth; 2022 showing 9% DAF revenue growth, but -2% non-DAF revenue growth; 2023 showing 15% DAF revenue growth, but 0% non-DAF revenue growth; 2024 showing 30% DAF revenue growth, but -1% non-DAF revenue growth.

As nonprofits measure and track their fundraising efforts, the success of the payment methods is a key factor. Nonprofit sustainability means giving people the most effective means to donate. At present, data shows ongoing significant growth in donors’ use of DAFs versus a decline in revenue through non-DAF methods.

Presentation slide. Headline: Easy DAF giving = more donors & more dollars. Four boxes of examples: (1) Pan-Mass Challenge: Raised $4.2M through DAFpay from over 5.3K gifts in 2024; (2) gofundme: DAFpay gifts added 5% to its $5M LA Wildfire campaign; (3) Community Rowing Inc.: 31% of CRI's online giving day donation volume through DAFpay; (4) Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas: 30% of JFSD live event donations through DAFpay gifts.

The new ease of DAF giving through DAFpay is not just a theory. Examples abound of nonprofits capitalizing on DAF-donor generosity. During the webinar, we will share best DAF practices, including how to communicate the value of DAF giving, convert and steward DAF donors, and track DAF gift data.
