Did I just get a fake check from the Give Lively Foundation?

Give Lively is aware that malicious actors are illegally issuing fake checks in our foundation’s name, a problem troubling companies all across the world. We're sorry and concerned if you have been targeted.

Please keep the following important guidelines in mind:

  • All checks that we do send are always genuine and we stand ready to confirm their validity.
  • We never send checks to individuals, only to IRS-registered 501(c)(3) public charities and private operating foundations. The checks are for donations that these organizations have received from their supporters. Learn more about why we send checks.
  • We never request personal information as a requirement for accepting a check or suggestion of a follow-up check. As clearly stated in a letter accompanying every legitimate check, “There are no conditions attached to these funds."

By contrast, the counterfeit checks trick people into revealing personal or confidential information (a practice called “phishing”). There is a false promise of even richer financial reward once an individual’s private details are shared.

If you received a check from us and have any questions about its validity, contact our support team, which is able to verify the check before you attempt to cash or deposit it.
