Imagine1day is an international organization that enables primary and secondary school education in Ethiopia. The organization constructs schools, trains teachers and helps partners in rural communities of Ethiopia to build their capacity. Innovative thinking and a commitment to accountability ensure self-sustainability every step of the way.
The spirit of innovation is evident in Imagine1day’s ability to overcome obstacles. For example, the local leadership team observed that girls were missing school due to daily tasks that typically fall to them, such as fetching water, often at a source hours from home. Girls also have their monthly menstrual cycle but can be challenged to come by hygiene supplies.
Rather than attempting to change established social and cultural practices, the team incorporated solutions into its model. Imagine1day ensures a reliable water supply at school so girls can bring fresh drinking water home each day. It also provides menstrual hygiene products so girls don’t stay home during their periods. Additionally, it incorporates separate bathrooms for girls and boys in each school it helps build, which Imagine1day has seen make an impact on attendance.
Since its programs directly impact communities in Ethiopia, Imagine1day has an entirely local team that leads and manages all its projects. That team is supported by a board with directors based in the United States and Canada, which started using Give Lively’s fundraising platform in 2025.

Imagine1day prioritizes transparency and connection with its supporters worldwide. To facilitate this, it holds a monthly educational “virtual salon,” each one inspired by observance days such as International Day of Charity, International Day of the Girl Child and World Toilet Day. The virtual salon on January 26, 2026, celebrates International Day of Education.
The free series, attendance at which is registered through Give Lively-powered Event Ticketing pages, is an opportunity for supporters to interact directly with the team in Ethiopia as they provide updates, answer questions and share inspiring stories. Past speakers have included CEO Dr. Seid Aman, Gender Equality & Social Inclusion Officer Ms. Selam Gelgelo and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Program Manager Bereket Gebretsion.
