Breakthrough nonprofits: Where to donate for Women’s History Month

Every March since 1987, Women's History Month serves as a dedicated time to acknowledge the contributions and achievements of women throughout American history. Despite making up half of the world's population, countless women have had their accomplishments ignored, their credit usurped, or their work diminished and excluded from historical accounts. Nevertheless, women have consistently played a crucial role, tirelessly championing the cause of equality.
“Historically, women in the United States have participated voraciously in civic life, registering and voting at higher rates than men in every presidential election since 1980,” Jennifer Weiss-Wolf wrote for TIME. And yet, “[t]he U.S. pales in comparison to women’s political authority in much of the world, too, including among peer democracies.”
This ongoing struggle is supported by the crucial work of the following Give Lively member nonprofits. Some are women-led nonprofits and while each differs in its area of focus, religious affiliation and methods, all are striving to establish and defend women’s human rights.
Whether you're a donor looking for impactful causes to champion or a nonprofit peer seeking inspiration for effective online fundraising, these high-impact organizations are worth exploring.
