Content Manager

From time to time we will profile members of the Give Lively team, revealing more about who we are, what we do and how we fit into a mix of dedicated and dynamic engineers, creatives, strategists and advocates helping nonprofits do more with digital fundraising tools.

Like the focus of this week’s profile, the full Give Lively team is passionate about using tech for social good and providing a better fundraising experience to nonprofits and donors.

What do you do at Give Lively?

Chances are that anything added to the Give Lively website, social media or email communications over the last four years was drafted or edited on my screen – and possibly served as a backdrop to my cat’s cursor chasing antics.

As Give Lively’s content manager, I collaborate with fellow wordsmith Ethan Gelber, Give Lively’s head of content marketing, to maintain the accuracy and clarity of all FAQs and Resource Hub articles as our product and engineering teams continuously improve our platform. Ethan and I also pen Updates Page articles to share Give Lively news, spotlight nonprofit members, share staff interviews and highlight product releases.

What does a day in your life at Give Lively look like?

While the constant of each day is the labyrinth of tabs open on my screen, the focus of each day changes, often following the thread the product and engineering teams unfurl as they build the features and products our members depend on. This involves plenty of fact-finding and strategy meetings with key stakeholders and the marketing team.

A significant portion of my week is ideating and writing content that will live here on the Updates Page, on topics that can range from fundraising best practices to values-centered pieces like “We stand strong for LGBTQ+ equalitty.” I also have the honor of sharing some of our members’ stories on the Updates Page, like with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals series, and on the Our Tech in Action page.

As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words, so all the content is closely coordinated with our creative director, Sonia Leone, and our graphic designer, David Gagne.

What do you like to do outside of Give Lively?

I am a serial hobby collector, and while I love to test my imagination with things like painting, writing poetry or learning to use Procreate on my iPad, my current obsession is training for my first marathon in September! I am also passionate about learning and am working on some (very) basic Greek in preparation for a trip next year. However, my greatest joy is spoiling my three rescue cats and telling my husband, “Look! Look! Look!” whenever they do something cute, several hundred times a day.

What excites you about Give Lively?

What excites me about Give Lively is the impact we have on nonprofits across the country. I get to learn about so many of them – large and small, serving diverse communities – in every category from animal welfare advocacy to affordable housing initiatives. Staring at a screen all day isn’t always desirable, but Give Lively’s mission does make it easy to show up. Through Give Lively, I am part of creating positive change in a world that can sometimes feel a little dark. And it certainly helps to work with the most genuine, thoughtful, well-intentioned and talented people.
