How do I delete a saved payment method?
In keeping with our commitment to privacy and security, and as described in our Privacy Policy, neither Give Lively nor our nonprofit members have access to any donor payment information, including saved payment methods associated with recurring donations.
That said, through the User Portal, you are able to delete payment methods associated with recurring donations.
- Log in to the User Portal.
- Select "Recurring Donations" in the left-hand navigation.
- Select from four tabs. Each tab displays recurring donations by their “Started” date (newest at the top).
+ Active – recurring donations that will be processed on the “Next charge” date shown on each item
+ Paused – recurring donations that can’t be processed but are reactivated automatically when a nonprofit is back in good standing with federal and/or state authorities
+ Disconnected – details about these recurring donations are unavailable because the nonprofit has decoupled its payment processor
+ Canceled – recurring donations that have been discontinued and will not be processed. - Choose any payment using the method you wish to delete and click the “Manage” button associated with it.
- Select the “Payment Method” option. This opens a “Change Payment Method” popup.
- Select the payment method you wish to delete and click on the garbage can icon to its right. If there is no garbage icon, then the payment method you wish to delete is in use for the selected recurring donation and/or attached to another active or paused recurring payment. Review all active and paused recurring donations and change the payment method to something other than the one you wish to delete. (You may need to add a new one to do this.) Repeat this step once an alternative payment method is in place.
- On the subsequent “Remove Payment Method” popup, confirm your choice by clicking the “Remove” button.
You may also wish to add a new payment method for future payments or change the payment method for a recurring donation.
