Help! I accidentally signed up for a recurring donation rather than a one-time contribution.

As of November 2020, you now have direct access to a secure Donor Portal through which you can cancel your own recurring donations.

At present, however, you are not yet able to update payment methods or edit the amount and date of recurring donations, although that functionality is coming soon.

If you already have a Donor Portal account and wish to cancel your recurring donation:

  1. Log in to the Donor Portal.
  2. Select ‘Recurring Donations’ in the left-hand navigation. This will pull up a full list of recurring donations, listed according to date of creation (newest at the top).
  3. Select the ‘Manage’ link of the recurring donation that will be canceled.
  4. Select ‘Cancel Recurrence’ to cancel the recurring donation. A popup prompt will ask for confirmation of the desire to cancel the recurring donation.
  5. Click ‘OK’ to proceed, keeping in mind that the request may take a few minutes to process.

If you do not have a Donor Portal account, learn what and where the Give Lively Donor Portal is and how to set up a user account.

In addition to this, the nonprofit to which you donated also has the ability to cancel your recurring donation. You must reach out directly to the nonprofit to make the change. They can cancel your recurring donation through their Stripe account. In your email to them, you can send them this link to our Resource Hub article which contains instructions about how to complete the requested action: https://resources.givelively.org/articles/cancel-a-donors-monthly-donation-or-subscription.

Give Lively doesn't have access to information or data that will help you resolve this issue. While we power the platform through which our nonprofit members can fundraise, our data privacy and security controls don’t allow us to issue refunds on their behalf.
