Confirm internet access and strength at an event venue

It is important to know in advance that a venue’s internet connectivity and strength are ready for the use of Give Lively products at a fundraising event. 

The questions below will help ascertain if a venue meets the internet requirements of such an event. We recommend sending these questions to prospective venues early in the event-planning process.

Critical questions to ask the IT team at a venue

Feel free to adapt these questions as needed. The more specific and detailed they are, the better. 

1. How do your internet access packages guarantee reliable connectivity for the anticipated number of attendees in the designated room on the specified date and time?
2. Will the network be shared with other parts of the building? If so, how can you ensure dedicated and uninterrupted access for our group?
3. Will your access points support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies? If so, will they provide adequate coverage to enable high throughput on a per-user basis?
4. Do you have any firewall or network rules in place that might restrict a certain number of concurrent users from accessing a specific site or domain, such as givelively.org? Can they be changed to accommodate our needs?
5. Will you have a technically skilled team member available on site during the event to troubleshoot any connectivity issues that may arise for our group?
6. [Once you’ve selected a venue:] Can you send us your IP address at the venue? We’ll pass it along to Give Lively so that they can approve-list it for the event.
